Bernie's obituary
Bernard Potof (Bernie), born on January 16, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona. A devoted family member and respected professional, Bernie lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his work and deep love for his family.
Bernie built a long and successful career as a pharmacist. His commitment to the well-being of others was evident throughout his professional life, where he served his community with care and integrity. His work left a lasting impression on all those who worked with him.
Family was at the heart of Bernie’s life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth Potof; sister, Susan Goldfine; nieces, Gail and Debby; daughters Julie Potof Daybell and her husband John Daybell and Lesley Bush and her husband Jason Bush; step-sons Kevin Fechtmeyer and Kurt Fechtmeyer, and his wife Alison Townley. Bernie was a proud grandfather to Carson, Sophia, Addison, Andrew, Audrey, Christian, Max, Serena, Phoebe, Patrick, and Theodore. Each grandchild brought joy to his life, and he cherished every opportunity he was able to spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his father Louis Potof, mother Freida Potof, and daughter Cindy Potof. Their memories remained close to Bernie’s heart throughout his life.
In retirement, Bernie embraced an active lifestyle filled with the things he loved most. He enjoyed playing pickleball and was an avid fan of baseball, basketball, and football. He dearly loved animals and adopted and cared for numerous dogs throughout his lifetime. But most of all, Bernie cherished the time he spent with his family and loved ones.
Bernie’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with kindness and dedication. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral will be held on October 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. A reception will follow at the home of his daughter, Lesley, and her husband, Jason.
