Bernadette's obituary

Accomplished, Achiever and Articulate are words that describe Bernadette Lodge-Lemon. Bernadette was an accomplished beautiful person driven to succeed in any venture or responsibility given to her. Superseded by her God-given talent to achieve greatness, she had more than 30 years of experience as an industry expert in the field of Hospital Revenue Management spanning work at Cedar Sinai Hospital, Northridge Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Santa Monica Hospital. Her 17-year tenure at UCLA Health Medical Center as the Director of Revenue Cycle Management culminated with high praise from her colleagues and senior management upon her retirement in August of 2022.

Articulate in communication, she was able to direct and lead her team of more than 200 employees at UCLA in meeting goals set to accomplish revenue growth, streamline processes and maintain profitability.

Bernadette was raised in Santa Monica, California and educated in the Santa Monica school district, from Will Rogers Elementary to John Adams Jr. High to Santa Monica High School. She attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and an Executive MBA in Health Care Management.

Bernadette was born to the union of Christopher C. Lodge and Lois W. Maxwell,

on August 25, 1960. Her parents Christopher and Lois Lodge, her brother Alphonso Lodge, her sister Diane Scott and nephew Tyonn Wilkins preceded her in death.

Bernadette is survived by her three children: two daughters, Autumn Lemon (Kandyce) and Colby Lemon (Richmond) born to the union of former husband Chilton Lemon; one son, Tristen Joseph born to the union of Thomas Joseph Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosie Lodge, Barbara Lodge and Linda Lodge-Bickham (Carl) and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins who love her dearly.

Bernadette resided in Granada Hills, California. She was a true connoisseur of fashion, executing opulence in interior decorating, and captivating event décor throughout her life. A woman of many talents she was enamored with dancing from an early age and cultivated her talents amongst her children. Her most cherished accomplishment was raising her children. She was an excellent mother, provider and ensured that her children had the best life offered. She nurtured them, each one into maturity and supporting their individual path in life to follow their dreams with vigor and purpose. She provided love, wisdom, and guidance and gracefully modeled strength and character, setting the tone of her home all while maintaining a stellar career. Being “Mom” is what she kept close to her heart and her children adore her.

As a sister and aunt, Bernadette was a loveable, trusted, true confidant, always there to listen and provide guidance. Bernadette was very private, quiet, and humble. She was extremely generous and kind to many within and outside of family.

More importantly she loved God, spending time daily in His Word and being ever thankful and grateful for all His blessings and favor.

On September 21, 2022, Bernadette quietly and peacefully was ushered into the forever presence of God. Our family will cherish her memory and will uphold her legacy until we see her again.
