Benjamin's obituary

Kermit Lawrence, 81, of Brunswick, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, July 14, 2011 at College Place United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Grotheer officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with Dewel Lawrence, Greg Dykstra, Daniel Dykstra, Ryan Dykstra, Robert Sams and Ben Johnson serving as pallbearers.

Born November 19, 1929 in Adrian, Georgia, to the late Ben Hill and Myrtle Maggie Lawrence, he was a veteran of the US Army serving in occupied Japan and The Korean Conflict. Mr. Lawrence was a retired Life and Accident Insurance representative for United Insurance Company of American and served as the Waycross District Manager. He then worked for Enterprise Car Rental in Brunswick. Mr. Lawrence had been a resident for over 52 years. He was an active member of College Place United Methodist Church, and was very involved in the church family. Mr. Lawrence was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and tending to his beautiful lawn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother, Don Lawrence.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Edna Lawrence of Brunswick, three daughters, Sharon Meyer and fiance’ Wade of Brunswick, Diane Dykstra and husband Greg , and Sandra Sams, all of St. Simons Island, six grandchildren, Daniel Dykstra, Melanie Tawney, Ryan Dykstra, Sunny Riehl, Mistie Daniels and Robert Sams, twelve great grandchildren, Megan Leggett, Madeline Tawney, Gracey Dykstra, Hannah Daniels, Jack Dykstra, Skiles Tawney, Donovan Dysktra, Levi Daniels, William Dykstra, Dane Dykstra, Daden Dykstra and Liam Riehl, one brother, Dewel Lawrence and wife Becky of Vienna, GA, two sisters, Annette Blizzard and husband Lamar of Swainsboro, and Judy Drew and husband Wayne of Pensacola, FL.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6PM until 8PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
