Ben was such a beautiful soul, he was a ray of sunshine in human form. He was so loving, caring, kind, compassionate and just had an all around amazing personality. The first time I met Ben in person was with his wonderful sister Tess. Ben made sure to go out of his way to interact with every single person at the shindig, made everyone feel heard, important and cared for. Ben had this magical way of talking about anything and everything and having an hour long conversation seem like 5 minutes. He showered people in his love, his ability to make people laugh and smile even at their lowest of lows.  He will be so deeply missed by so many people, he left a lasting impact for sure.

We will always remember your friendliness for others, being the biggest joy at camp, and having a huge smile always. We love you.

Ben was a few years older than myself, and so he always had this almost legend status to him. It wasnt until I was probably 16 when I had an experience with him beyond just being in awe of him being well, himself. And it was so simple. Teaching me how to play a game where we tap our hands on the table to pass it left or right. A simple game and not some grand moment. But to be able to interact and treated as a friend by someone who I thought was so cool growing up was awesome.

My connection and memory of Ben is not as deep as most who will post here, yet I consider that connection  and memory to be a great blessing in my life.  Ben’s joy in life and his concern for others was very apparent to me when we did connect.  I’ve heard the quote “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, but I believe the word kindness fits better - Ben certainly exhibited this trait.

One example of Ben’s joy in life was when I took him fishing about 6 years ago.  We caught a few bass and he certainly enjoyed himself, but what stuck with me was how much attention and focus he gave to his nieces and nephews.  He wanted to make sure they were safe, had fun, and made good memories.  His example is one to follow.

As with all who post here, I wish I had more time with him.  As many of us struggle and mourn his passing, I also hope and pray that he’s not struggling, for he’s someone who would continue to care for all of us, even now when he’s not here.

Ellie wrote this memorial:

Ben was a glowing beacon of positivity and light. Whether it was his compelling storytelling, lighthearted jokes, or sharing genuine thoughts on life and love, spending time with Ben was always a joy. Hearing his contagious jovial laughter was like medicine for the soul and anyone who was lucky enough to encounter him left with good memories and a full heart.

During Ben’s formative years he spent his summers at scout camp and became so passionate about the scouts that he returned for many years as a camp counselor offering guidance, support, and lighthearted fun to every young camper. He was the star of the show in so many camp skits, with his energetic captivating performances he would have audiences rolling with laughter. One of Ben’s greatest joys was making people laugh, and he was so good at it, he spread happiness wherever he went.

Ben had such a big heart and was always there to lend strength when others needed it. He would give all he had to help anyone struggling. Ben loved freely and forgave even those who may not have deserved it. But that was who he was. He was unequivocally a beautiful soul with his heart open for all who needed love or someone to lean on.

He had a way of connecting with people that is so rare. Young or old he would make you feel heard and seen. As an uncle, his nieces and nephews loved spending time with him. He truly loved connecting with little ones, whether jabbering and having a full conversation with a toddler, or playing make believe, he made an impact of sharing joy as a caring uncle.

Ben had a passion for music, many happy memories were shared around a piano where he would play everything from classical, to ragtime, and show tunes. Many a night was spent singing Phantom of the Opera with his beautiful voice.

Ben was an amazing brother, son, uncle, cousin, friend, and above all else, a good person. He left a legacy of kindness, laughter, generosity, and an open heart for whoever he encountered. The world feels the weight of his loss.

Ben,

I have always loved you son... and always will. You moved from being a Angel on Earth to being a Angel in Heaven.

I feel your embrace, you will always be around. No matter where I venture... you will be there.

So sorry you had to leave so young,  you had alot of love this world really needs right now. Love you nephew,
