Ben Lois Bowers, 96, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2022, after a long and happy life. Ben was born July 27, 1925, to Ben and Lela Hampton in Paris, Arkansas.  After high school, she attended Northeastern  State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she met her future husband, David Garrett Bowers. He was no doubt, impressed by her beauty, as she held the title of Miss Fort Chaffee while working at a US military camp after WWII.  They married on December 23, 1947, and had four sons, Gary, Bruce, Greg and Brad.    She was close to her sisters, Virginia, Billie Faye, and Marilyn, and her brother, Harold, who all predeceased her.  

Ben raised her family in Hilshire Village, Houston. She was an awesome cook and loved to entertain.  She loved to dig in the dirt and always had a beautiful yard and welcoming home.   She had many close friendships in the neighborhood.  After retiring, they moved to Rogers, Arkansas.  They eventually moved back to Houston, again living in Spring Branch.   

Her family continued to grow as she became known as "Granna" and had many grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.  We will all miss her greatly. 

Ben Lois was predeceased by her husband, David Bowers, her third son, Greg Bowers, and her second son, Bruce Bowers.  She is survived by Gary and Brad her eldest and youngest sons, respectively.  She is survived by two daughters in law, Rosie Bowers and Lia Bowers.  She is also survived by several loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

There will be a celebration of her life on Friday March 18, 2022 at  2:00 pm.   at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, 1215 Campbell Road, Houston, TX  77055.  The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the charity of your choice or to Spring Branch Presbyterian Church where she was a lifelong member.  

Coffee will be served at the church following the service. 

A reception will follow at a local restaurant at 4:00 pm.  Further details will be provided with location information.
