Barbara Versaci, a cherished and vibrant soul, aged 91, of Nanuet, NY, passed away on November 28, 2023, surrounded by the warmth and love of her children. Born in Brooklyn on February 28, 1932, Barbara was a true New Yorker at heart. She resided in Nanuet for 44 years, forming a life rich with experiences and connections.
Barbara's educational journey led her to earn an associate's degree in communications, a field that reflected her natural gift for connecting with people. Up until her well-deserved retirement, her career with the New York Telephone Company (later Verizon) was characterized by dedication and excellence.
Her personal life was graced by a loving marriage to Luigi Versaci from 1964 until his passing in 2012. Together, they built a family foundation that has stood the test of time.
Barbara's life was a tapestry of diverse interests and hobbies. She was an adept craftswoman, finding joy in knitting and sewing—skills she often shared with those she loved. Her adventurous spirit shone through in her enjoyment of playing bingo with friends and visiting casinos, where her presence was always a delight.
Above all, Barbara's world revolved around her family. She is lovingly remembered by her three children—Benni Versaci, Charles Versaci, and Frank Vasquez-Negron—and her cherished grandchildren—Olivia Versaci, Christian Versaci, Gia Crifo, Paul Vasquez, and Frankie Vasquez-Negron. Each of them was a source of immense joy and pride for her.
Barbara's ability to make people laugh, her sharp wit, and her capacity to light up a room will be profoundly missed. She had the unique talent of making every moment memorable and joyful for those around her.
The family will receive friends to celebrate Barbara's life on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Sorce Funeral Home, located at 728 W. Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY.
