Art's obituary
Arturo Ganotan Basa, fondly known as “Uncle Art,” was born on December 5, 1942, in Bakit-Bakit, Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines to Alberto and Ana Basa. He was one of four siblings—Artemio, Antonio, Arturo, and their cherished sister, Alejandria.
After graduating from Rosales National High School in 1958, Arturo studied radio technology at a vocational school in Dagupan City. Known for his fun-loving nature, comedic humor, and generous heart, he was always surrounded by unwavering, loyal friends spending countless hours storytelling,—often gifting clothes, or treating drinks without hesitation.
In 1968, Arturo started his journey to Hawaii through his father’s petition, and started searching for any opportunities. A year later, he returned to the Philippines to marry his beloved wife, Genoveva, and together they eventually moved back to Hawaii, raising 3 amazing children: Bleslyn (Bles), Marvin (JJ), and Arthur (Jan-Jan). Arturo worked various jobs, including at an A/C company with his brother, Tony.
In 1986, Arturo relocated with his family to California, eventually settling in Santa Clara. He worked at Integrated Device Technology (IDT) for over 25 years until his retirement in 2013. Arturo was known for his love of pork adobo and dinuguan, cold beer, storytelling, and always entertaining with a funny, “dad” joke. He was happiest in the company of friends and family playing Mahjong or spending the time sharing nostalgic stories. Above all, Arturo’s generosity, humility, hard-working, and sense of humor left a verylasting impact on everyone he met.
At the age of 82, Arturo passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. He is reunited in heaven with his dear daughter, Bleslyn Ann, and leaves behind his loving wife Genoveva, sons Marvin and Arthur, loving sister Alejandria, and precious grandchildren Jenessa, Ethan, Juleon, Jayden, Milani, and Kingston, along with many loved ones.
His memory will live on in every kind gesture, every shared joke, and every heart he touched.
