Anthony Walter Briscoe Sr. departed this life doing what he enjoyed – eating. He acquired his wings on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 6:27 pm after suffering cardiac arrest. He was the loving father of Brandi Briscoe (Clinton Sr.), Dwayne Briscoe, Raymond Briscoe (Kari), Darlene Riley-Triggs (Kevin), and Angelic Briscoe. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Anthony Briscoe Jr. (aka Tony). He was also the uncle and second dad of Samuel McCullough, Jr. Anthony was a playful grandfather, so he leaves behind his grandchildren: Hassana and Rashana Mahamane, Clinton Jr., Javier, Jasmine, and Khloe Briscoe, Peyton Wood, Dwayne Jr., Cokita Smith Britton, and Alanis Savoff. He was also the loving younger brother of Barbara August and Pearl Thomas (Carl). Additionally, he leaves behind great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Anthony was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley Burns Briscoe. his mother, Lydia Briscoe, his father, Victor Briscoe, his brother Victor Briscoe, Jr., and his oldest son, Anthony Briscoe Jr. Anthony dabbled in a host of things as he maneuvered this life. He was a bus driver with New Orleans Public Schools for over 30 years, but he was forced to retire from that profession after his first stroke in 1999. Before being a bus driver, our dad worked at The Boston Club, as a mechanic at Sears, and as a long shoreman. His interests were simple also. He loved what he loved – Blackjack, poker, basketball, and all other sports. Anthony was an avid sports enthusiast. He watched all sports. In fact, he was a basketball player at Carver High School. However, when an injury caused irreparable damage, he rehabbed enough to join the Over-the-Hill basketball club in New Orleans to continue playing what he loved. To continue his sport, he taught Darlene how to play basketball. Family, friends of the family, and former co-workers of our dad are invited to attend his funeral services at Serenity Funeral Home in Houston, Texas on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:30am. Visitation begins at 10:00 am. Interment and arrangements were made by Serenity Funeral and Cremations 8619 Windswept Lane, Houston, Texas 77063.
