My beautiful Aunt Anna came into my life in the early 1950’s. I was only 2 or 3 years old when she married Uncle Larry, my Dad’s younger brother. Right from the start, she was sweet & loving and never changed one bit. Her soft voice, lively wit and laughter were always there, in every situation. I love you so much and miss you too, Aunt Anna… yet you are there every time I think of you. Blessings & love, always ❤️🙏🌟

To my darling, loving sister, you are gone from this earth, but never gone from my life. I have you in my heart and mind forever until we meet again, and we will. I’m so glad that we could speak to each other every day during your last days. We would never say good bye, only “I’m touching you, I’m kissing you, so I’m saying to you now, “l’m touchingly you, I’m kissing you.”

Grammy Lake was an amazing woman, grandmother, and great grandmother. She overcame incredible odds to cross the Atlantic and live her American dream. Her sacrifices and hardships were the reason why our family is here in New Hampshire today and I will be forever grateful to her.

I’m also grateful for her husband, Larry, for being a gentleman who always showed up for the woman he loved. He was a hero in so many ways.

Grammy Lake was ALWAYS there for her kids and grandkids. She attended all of the games, theatre productions, and award ceremonies that she could possibly attend. Every holiday was special and she LOVED celebrating them together with us. Her cooking was absolutely amazing. Her German Apple cake and Henry’s pound cake were my birthday favorites and they never disappointed.

In recent years I would drive up to Merrimack and have a cup of red rose tea with her and Uncle Paul. It was a time to relax, reflect, and show each other love and respect. These have been anxious years for everyone, to say the least. I only wanted her to know one thing - nothing was ever going to change my love for her, and especially not the politics of the day.

I’m not saying goodbye today. I know her spirit exists and is with God now. She is keeping an eye on us and protecting us in ways the human mind cannot yet comprehend. Until the day we meet again, I will continue to celebrate you and your memories. I love you and miss you dearly.

April 2021 - Our last photo together. I know she is at peace now in heaven with Grampy and all her amazing relatives and friends. ❤️
So sad to lose this wonderful woman. My Aunt Anna was one of the most loving and kind people I have ever known. I have been recalling so many childhood and adult memories that bring me both tears and smiles. She gave the BEST hugs and made the BEST pies... everything about her and everything she did was comforting in every way... she deserves to be in peace and comfort now. Our family has suffered a great loss, but we were so blessed to have her be a special part of each of our lives. Sending all of my love to Steven, Diane, Paul and all the grandchildren and great-granchildren.

Amy~

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Anna.....she always referred to her as Diane's Mom......The strongest memory that comes to mind is the year she had us over for Thanksgiving....the table was perfectly set.....the food was perfect in every way and so delicious...I could not get over her attention to details....we loved it. Then, after dinner, we all watched 'Home Alone'....so fun. Also, as a plant lover myself, I remember her answering every question about all the plants on her beautiful property....it was always pristine!!! I know she is in Heaven now...with her sweet husband, Larry. Rest in Peace!!!

Wanted to share this....My friend Anita wrote this to me...
Just love this message....
"Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children" "When you look into your mother's eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth."
"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take."
That truly explains why the hole in your heart that losing a mom leaves is so HUGE. She is the one who knows your history and your past first hand. She can share the funny stories, the sad moments, special times and the great accomplishments of your life like no other can. That is something I'm sure everyone misses when they lose their mom.
I Love My Mom and Miss Her So Very Much!
She had to be one of the most stubborn people I have ever known. No, the most stubborn person!! That's what helped her reach 90! She stood her ground and never let anyone push her around! She made her opinion clear and known!! Things had to be done in a certain way - Her Way!!!!! Just ask her nurses......
With that all being said - My mom was sooo Loving! She LOVED her family, kids, grandkids, great grandkids and she would do ANYTHING for them! Her heart was so Very Big when it came to her Family! She was always there for us all! If you were her friend you were indeed Very Special to her!
She LOVED this country. Coming from Germany during the War she KNEW how GREAT it is here and how Lucky and Blessed she was to be able to live here.
As she was being taken out on the stretcher to Hospice, with her eyes shut, she said, " God Bless This Wonderful Country." Oh this country meant a lot to her and every night she prayed that it would once again become the Great Country that she knew it to be.
My mom had such a war time love story that she LOVED to share with anyone that came into our house! All the nurses, LNA's, religious people....everyone heard her stories. That was very special to her.
My mom could do so many things SOOOO WELLLL! She could paint, draw, was a Master Seamstress, could solve any problem we ever had, was wonderful at any arts and crafts project there ever was and My Gosh she was an extraordinary baker!! Her cakes, pies, pastries, lemon squares were her trademark! Everyone had their favorite!
She was an incredible cook!!! Best cook ever!! She was an Italian Restaurant cook and could make the best dishes around! We sure will miss ALL of those things!
She touched many people's lives. She will be greatly missed by her whole entire family and her friends of many years.
I'll miss her talking me off the ledge and yelling at me for so many things!!!! I'll even miss her stubbornness!!
I'm Thankful that I had so many special moments when I first came up to NH to help care for her. We got to take many trips back to the past. Some made us laugh and some made us cry. We covered it ALL. So Thankful.
I used to call my mom each and every day. In only a week I've had so many occasions that things happened and my first thought was I have to call my mom and tell her about that. That makes me so sad.
But she's with my dad, her parents and many relatives and friends. We'll all be together with her again one day. I Thank God that we were Blessed for ALL the years we enjoyed being with her. Moi :)

Spending Thanksgiving with family and friends at the old house in Deering, NH. We really loved those times together.
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with Anna?"
I loved when Anna would visit Florida and become my "Florida" mom for a few weeks. She always had a smile and was the better half of a hug. My mom is long gone so it was great to feel the love of a mother again = even if it was seasonal! Your family is the best thing you can leave behind and Anna - your family is a shining example of compassion and kindness to others. Always in my heart - Kathy
