Anne B. Odom Hutcheson, age 97, formerly of Soperton passed away on Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025 at her home in Evans, Georgia.
Born in Soperton, she was one of eight children born to the late James Eddie Odom Sr., and Lillie Gillis Odom. She grew up in the Lothair Community of Soperton and was a graduate of Soperton High School. After high school, she attended Business School in Atlanta. Mrs. Hutcheson had worked for many years at the home office for Piggly Wiggly Southern in Vidalia in the Payroll and Data Processing Center until retiring in the late 1980s or early 1990s. She moved to Clearwater, Florida where she remained before returning to Georgia in 2003 and settling in Evans; to be near her family.
She was happiest when spoiling her grandchildren, shopping , discovering a bargain or visiting with relatives. In addition to her focus on her grandchildren and their having anything that they wanted, she enjoyed current events and staying abreast of local and national politics.
As a child, she grew up in Lothair United Methodist Church and upon moving to Vidalia, she worshipped at the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step mother, Mary Thompson Odom, a daughter, Jan Brown Crain, an infant son, Phillip Dale Hutcheson, a daughter in law, Catherine “Cathy” Hutcheson, siblings, Eloise Pronko, James E. “J.E.” Odom Jr., Ward Odom, Dwight Odom, Lillie Odom Powell and Felix Odom.
Mrs. Hutcheson leaves behind, a son, Joseph “Joey” Hutcheson, Evans, GA, a daughter, Cassidy Coffari (Enrico), Cerqueto, Italy, her only surviving sibling, sister, Gail Willis (Freddie), Soperton, GA, grandchildren, Cameron A. Brown (Kathleen), Augusta, GA, Alison Brown, (Greg Harding), Decatur, GA, four great grandchildren, Buddy Brown (Rose), Brevard, NC, Harriett Brown (Braden Charles), Dallas, TX, Goodman Lamar Harding, Decatur, GA, Julia Frances Harding, Decatur, GA, three great great grandchildren, Charlie Brown, Waylon Brown, Hank Brown and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Shepherd, of the Lothair Church, officiating.
Mrs. Hutcheson will be laid to rest beside her brother in the Odom Family plot at Westview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Braden Charles, Phil Odom, Jeff Willis, Greg Harding, Buddy Brown and Cameron Brown.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 11:00 o’clock am until the hour of service.
