I am deeply saddened by the news of Andrew's passing. My condolences, Evgeniya, John, Victoria, and Rebecca. May time bring you solace. I pray that God blesses you with understanding so that your grief no longer bears pain.
Of all my classmates, Andrew was the person that I wish I would have made the effort after high school to tell him I was sorry for not treating him well as schoolmates. From his academic accomplishments one can certainly gather that he was an accomplished man. I now wish I would have been respectful of him in my youth. The news of his passing weighs heavy on my heart.
Sincerely,
Dr. John W. Kelly, II

My condolences to Andrew's family. I've known Andrew since Jr. High and we became good friends our junior year of high school. We had a lot of fun playing in the pit for high school musicals and participating in the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony. He was a funny and thoughtful person and he helped me get through some tough times.

It is still hard for me to get my head around the fact that Andrew is dead. He came to work with me at NIST a long time ago and we've been friends ever since. He is one of the people that stayed in touch after we both went our separate ways. Unfortunatey, the only photo I have was taken when Andrew, Nelson (our boss) and I were receiving the NIST bronze metal for developing a method of evaluating thermal imagers used by firefighters. I don't have access to this photo right now so please imagine Andrew with a big smile on his face, this shouldn't be too hard to do.
Andrew's life was way too short, but it is obvious from this website that he managed to leave a lot of good memories with his family and friends. That is the right way to live for any length of time.

Andrew volunteered on the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Fire Tests. He contributed to improving fire safety for upholstered furniture and brought a wealth of expertise to the committee. He was always willing to share his knowledge. He would light up when telling stories about his family. We will miss him and extend our condolences to his family and friends.
