Andrea's obituary

Andrea Deckard (Bucksot), 59, of Robinson, IL, passed away March 18, 2022, at her home, lovingly surrounded by her family at her side after a courageous 6-month battle with cancer.

Andrea, the daughter of Donald Bucksot and Ruthann (Smith) Bucksot, was born in Bloomington, IN July 11, 1962. She grew up in Ellettsville IN, and graduated from Edgewood High School with accolades in basketball and track & field. After high school, she found meaning and purpose through her work at Bloomington Hospital, where she created some of her deepest lifelong friendships.

She was an avid gardener who loved hummingbirds, dancing, crafting, traveling to the Smokey Mountains & Daytona Beach, and above all–helping others. She was a thoughtful and dependable friend who was generous with her time and loved fiercely & deeply. If you knew her, there’s a great chance she was also your biggest fan.

Andrea is survived by her loving companion of 22 years, Bob Harvey (Robinson IL), loving children, Leslie Deckard (Chicago, IL) and Dustin Deckard (Carmel, IN), Bob’s son Tucker Harvey (Evansville, IN), sister Cindy (Charlie) Johnson (Augusta, MI), two brothers Jay (Terri) Bucksot, and Patrick (Beth) Bucksot (both of New Bern, NC), nieces, nephews, and extended family. Andrea was proceeded in death by her parents, Tanner Harvey, and her brother, David Vandercook.

Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to support one of these causes: Middle Way House: which offers supportive & advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, or to Headstrong: an org that provides no-cost, confidential and stigma-free mental health treatment for military members, veterans, and their families regardless of service era or discharge.

A beautiful, lighthearted memorial (to match her spirit) will be held in Bloomington, IN at a later date. For more information, or to share a memory or condolence online, please visit www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com.
