Obituary

Our daughter, Anastacia "Ana" Engler, has passed away at the age of 19 after a difficult, 15-month battle with brain cancer. Ana was diagnosed with glioblastoma at the age of just 17 but she still graduated high school with her friends, enjoyed her noodles and sushi and lived her life the best she could.

Ana was worldly, salty, fierce, kind, and sassy. She loved being smart and hated feet. She loved Harry Potter and hated …

Personal note from Ana's Family

We want everyone to know about the wonderful people who helped us care for Ana over the last year. Beginning with the most compassionate doctor I have ever met, Ana's neuro oncologist, Dr. Na Tosha Gatson, who supported and encouraged Ana's bravery without fail. Also, the other professionals at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. The radiation team, and the chemotherapy infusion team. The Hospice of the Valley people who regularly visited us in our home comforted us more than they could ever know. Dianna the RN, Pam the social worker, Kelly the CNA who had the toughest job of anyone and is an awe-inspiring person, and Ericka, the counselor who spent time with Ana's 6-year-old-brother Evander. You all have our eternal respect and gratitude.

Updates

Update from April 4, 2024

There will be food available throughout the afternoon. Jimmy John's and Beef Stroganoff (two of Ana's favorite foods). Plenty to drink as well, including beer and wine, because, who are we kidding?
