Amy's obituary
Amy Catharine Powers Schellenberg passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Amy was born on April 30, 1963 in Springfield, Ohio to Michael and Mary Jo Powers.
She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Amy earned her B.S. and M.Ed from the University of Dayton in Education. She completed her PhD at Indiana State University. Amy worked in central office administration at Greater Clark County Schools in Jeffersonville, IN and retired in 2018,
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beautiful son Connor who passed in 2017. She is survived by her forever partner Scott Mollet, her daughters, her brother Michael and Barbie Powers, sister Carrie Powers, niece/nephews Maddy (Kyle) Boszor and Nicholas Powers.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving daughters Bridie Schellenberg and Molly (Ty) Doyle. She was Gigi to Leyton Pruett, Parker Pruett, and Joy Freeman (Bridie), and Grady Doyle, Garrett Doyle and Annie Doyle (Molly). Amy was also blessed to join Robert Scott Mollet’s family including Scotty and Lori Mollet and their children Taylor, Alexis and Trey and son Eli (Kashmir) Mollet. Amy was also blessed to be a bonus great grandma to Emberlynn Faith Mollet. Additionally, Amy was gifted with an extended family including aunts and uncles: Tom and Susan Gnau, Steve and Mary Grace Gnau, Julie Greene, David and Kim Gnau, DeeDee and Ken Brust, Joe and Marcia Dunn and all of their wonderful children, her cousins.
Her life changed in 2016 when she met Scott Mollet. Together they built a retirement life in Florida that included lots of golf, reading, and travel. When diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2016, Scott never left her side and provided a life of faith, love, and security.
She was blessed to have a circle of friends that always served as family and who embraced her and her children throughout the years. Candice, Lisa F., Lisa D., Erin, Brenda, Debbie, Ann, Brooke, Julie, Jennifer K. - and so many more - THANK YOU for your love.
Amy tried to live everyday with a grateful heart and a deep faith in God. She would want everyone to know how important they were to her and that everyone she came in contact with was a blessing.
