Alvan's obituary

Alvan Richard "AL or Alvie" Miller, 80, of Normalville, passed away unexpectedly, Thurs. Jan. 28, 2021, while doing what he loved. Al was born on July 12, 1940 in Champion to the late Ray and Ruby (Henry) Miller. He was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1960. Al worked at United States Steel as a Remote Train Engineer and retired after 35 years. On March 28, 1966 he married Laura Elizabeth Titus and they had 5 children and fostered many. Al loved his country and served in the U.S. Army in Germany and the United States from 1962 - 1969. He loved God and was a member of the CTC A Better Life Church of Normalville. Al loved his long walks, antique cars, and country music. He also loved good food and good company. What he treasured most in life was his large family. He was loving, loyal, and warm hearted. He was the best!

Al is survived by Laura Miller and his children and their spouses, Carina and Brian Mounts, Troy Miller, Chris and Tiffany (Tuzzolo) Miller, Dicia Miller and Nevada Miller, his grandchildren Markeus Gilbert, Michael McCann, Allenzia McCann, Chris Miller, Jr., Luciana Feoli, his great granddaughter Mia Cataldi, his siblings Gloria Skrot of Florida, James Miller and wife Donna of New Jersey, David Miller of New Jersey, Margaret Johnson and husband Mike of Pennsylvania, Stanton Miller and wife Cindy of New Jersey, Josiah Miller and wife Beverly of Indian Head, and Ralph Miller and wife Susan of Normalville, his brother-in-law James Breeding of Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Al was predeceased by his sister Patricia Breeding and his sisters-in-law Liz Miller and Lynn Miller.
Family and friends will be received Thurs. from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, the hour of a Funeral Service , in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310) with his brothers Pastor Ralph Miller and Pastor Stanton Miller officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Champion with Military Rites bestowed by the Donegal VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to a charity of one's choice, in memory of Alvan Richard Miller.
