Algertha “Gert” Milton was born in Pahokee, Florida on October 7, 1939 to George and Georgia Ann Carter (both deceased). She was the fifth of eleven children in the family. She graduated from Lakeshore High School in the late 1950’s and then married Otis W. Milton, Jr. shortly afterwards. While Otis pursued his Bachelor’s degree at Florida A&M University, he and Gert began a family with the birth of Aloysius, Otis III, and Cathy. While …
