Alan's obituary
Alan Joseph Atkinson, 61, loving husband and father of two, went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2024.
Alan was born on November 30, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN to Frederick and Evelyn (Blascziek) Atkinson. He was a sensational football player, offered scholarships and attended St. Thomas University where he was given the college nickname “Moose.” He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics and Social Studies and later in life received his Doctorate in Religious Philosophy. Following a successful college career, he joined the Army where he would graduate with honors. He proudly served his country in Operation Desert Storm as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technician Radiologist. During his enlistment he met his wife Janette in San Antonio in 1990 and was married in 1992.
Alan’s remarkable life was a shining example of humility and devotion to God. His ability to reach people through his extraordinary gift of writing will leave a timeless legacy. He used his talent to become a published author in an International Christian Magazine and was in the process of co-writing a novel. Not only his words, but his actions and deeds made him an extraordinary husband, father, friend, author, entrepreneur, mentor, artist, singer, and greatest of these, a disciple of Jesus Christ. His relentless pursuit of truth and relationship with his Heavenly Father was truly inspiring.
He is survived by his wife Janette Atkinson, his daughter Megan Giacoma (Tyler), his son Jacob Atkinson (Emerald), his father, Frederick Atkinson, his brothers; Jeff Atkinson, Paul Atkinson (Pauline), Randy Atkinson, and his sisters; Sarah Atkinson and Patrice Holter (Drake).
