To the family of Simmy, know that we have lost a giant who shared his light to the nation. His story will be told by many who shared a space with him,I'm happy I was among those who were within his fire circle,we felt the warmth and took away wisdom. Goodnight my friend until we meet in the morning. From Salome Madumo
You made life a beautiful experience Advocate Simmy Lebala, SC. Each moment spent in your company left me feeling joyful, special, smarter, and good about myself...That was you. You had the gift to make everyone crossing your path to feel that they were important. Although you were a giant both professionally and socially, you never made anyone feel it. Your humility, humour, laughter, jovialiality, warmth, generosity, intellect, flowery language, meticulousness, professionalism, flamboyance and many more traits only you embodied, will be heartily missed. Go well my friend and dear brother! My life is much more enriched because I crossed your path. Thank you! Namaste!
Simmy was a giant! A great tree! A great tree of the sort that when it fell ’rocks on distant hill shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety’. [Maya Angelo] Your loss is our loss. Kgomotjegang, baKwena!
To Oatile and Mom,
Oatile, you had a legal and social Eagle for a Dad. You are special. It's no wonder you are a bright star yourself. Our heartfelt condolences to you! We ( the legal fraternity) are all here for you.
Audrey, your pain is our pain. Your loss is our loss! Our heartfelt condolences go out to you and Oratile.
I met Simmy the first time when he was still an enthusiastic law student. Our friendship blossomed from there and his incredible passion for life and equality and justice and righteousness was always present. I remember how proud he was of his son 's accomplishments at school and how he savoured every moment of life. He remained brave and optimistic throughout his illness and never waivered in his faith. He always ended off messages with "Namaste". A truly remarkable human being. He was still so happy to be in the Step Down facility and at the prospect of returning home. His light will always shine..
I am so saddened by the death of one of the most special human beings whom I had the privilege to know - a mensch and man of God, a man of integrity and a warmth and sincerity so seldom encountered. Ave atque vale my friend. Namaste 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Mabel Jansen.
Sleep in heavenly peace SC Lebala. Yours was an incredible, generous life lived with so much grace, humilty and courage right to the end.
How despicable and cruel can death be. Yet we are consoled by the knowledge that your was a soft landing at the bosom of your Creator, your Redeemer, in whom you trusted.
Thank you for a life well lived. The "devine in me bows to the devine in you". Till we meet again. Namaste!
Ngimkhumbula oNgoye 1986 besibhaxa naye lomlisa while trying to gatecrash a party.. Simoza was carrying a bottle of Betrams VO brandy and I had the dash. During the fracas we managed to protect the condiments and ran to Madungendaba in New York (male hostel), where we consumed the booze and slept there. Simoza and I (aka "Joe Banana") , a nickname that he bestowed on me, partied hard and studied hard. We managed to find the right balance between the two. This is the secret behind his huge success. Nona of our courses went down uMhlathuze river. So long my friend "Lobola". Till we meet again.
Simmy Lebala - a man with a passion for giving back to the community and a heart for education. I was blessed to know him for only a short while, but in that time I saw his strength and his humility. Always ready to share ideas and help out. Such a wonderful soul. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace.
A great son of the soil has departed! A great intellectual is gone back home! The legal fraternity has lost one its own Maropeng Simmy Lebala! A great legal tree has fallen, we lost its shadow and protection! The family has lost its noble sons, but the masses have lost one of its fine advocates, a revolutionary of great note!
I salute your contribution to the transformation of the DOD military labour relations my leader! I Salute your contribution to the political intent of the Government of the day! I salute your service to mankind specifically to the uneducated!
Simmy you have done what history sent you to do, and you have done it successfully all what is remaining is history to honour your name. More importantly history recognise your sacrifice to bring and maintain the constitutional democracy in South Africa.
We are the tools of history! When we go, history will find other tools! You have done what you came to do in this world, all what is remaining is to return where you came from. It is written that from God we come and unto God we shall return.
Again, let me take this opportunity to speak in tongues: “Fambani kahle mukulukumba, kokwana Maropeng Simmy Lebala! Fambani kahle hosi yamina!”
When sun rises, we will always remember you! When the sun set, we shall always remember you!
