My family member switched to Seasons from another hospice and was on their service for a month or two until Seasons let her go, fired her, whatever you want to call it. My relative's disease is a very slowly progressing disease and she had been on ... Read morehospice for 9 years because her two doctors told her there was nothing else that could be done. All this time she was never refused any renewal of hospice services until being on Seasons hospice. Seasons claimed that she was not declining even though she WAS losing weight slowly and down to 100 pounds and also requiring higher amounts of oxygen than she had a year before. She was also struggling more with ADL's, living alone and homebound. Ultimately Seasons blamed medicare and said her hospice benefits had "run out." Seasons made her select and name a PCP to cover themselves when they told her they were going to withdrawl care and gave her 2 weeks of morphine (a med she had been on through hospice for 9 years) and dismissed her once she had an appointment with a new PCP. She hadnt even seen the PCP once yet when they let her go. All the while Seasons knew that the new PCP was not going to prescribe her morphine like she had been taking. I called and expressed my concerns to the nurse managers about how I felt this was not being handled humanely or properly. I expressed my concern of the risk of becoming very sick from withdrawls from morphine, about the fact that it isnt safe for my relative to drive herself to a PCP, and about the fact that my relative cant walk very far to get into a doctor's office. The nurse managers admitted that yes there was a risk of withdrawal here and my concerns were valid, but said in a sugar coated way, that was for the PCP to deal with now. Sure enough once my relative ran out of meds, she became ill with withdrawl symptoms-chills, diarrhea, sneezing, body aches because the PCP couldnt prescribe her the amounts of morphine she was used to taking due to the opioid crackdown, etc. This resulted in a couple of ER visits for my family member. Not long after this, the new PCP referred my relative to get on home health care once he saw how frail she was. Then after a couple of weeks she was referred back onto hospice by the same PCP and she was accepted by a new hospice. If her medicare benefits had truly "run out" as Seasons had said, how could she be on service with ANY hospice at all? I believe that Seasons lied just to unload my relative because she was a more demanding and difficult patient than the average joe. She had high anxiety and lonliness and would call the nurses out to her house really often. This company caused my relative to get sick from withdrawls by not handling the situation properly and caused undue stress. I would have rather seen them help wean off of the morphine slowly under medical supervision than the just cut her off and hope for the best. If my relative would have died from withdrawls due to their poor judgement I would have persued legal counsel. If your relative is already unconscious and on their deathbed, this might be just as good as any other hospice company, but if your relative is on a more complex and/or slow journey I would not risk it. They dont seem like they have a lot of brain cells and are deceitful. Honesty and transparency go a long way. Read less

Sherry Moody — Of course Hospice is not a service anyone looks forward to having to use, but if you find yourself in that position I highly recommend Seasons.
Everyone from the social worker, equipment delivery, personal care , chaplain and nurse were amazing !
