What's the process to purchase a plot like from Holy Cross Cemetery?
We look forward to meeting our families! When planning in advance of need especially, we encourage you to visit the cemetery to get a feel for the space. This initial visit can be made on your own or with our Director or Cemetery Counselor. Appointments are necessary due to the nature of our work and the number of funeral services we conduct. Our staff will assist you in locating a burial space or spaces that are most appealing to you. If you have family or friends at rest with us, we will be happy to locate the surrounding burial spaces available for purchase. Payments may be made in full for a discount or paid over time with no interest. Families should allow 1 hour for the meeting, selection and purchase process.

We encourage visitors of all ages. Cemeteries, especially ours is not a sad or scary place but a warm, welcoming, and most importantly sacred space for people to come to pray, commune with nature and honor the deceased.

What is the history of Holy Cross Cemetery?
Holy Cross Cemetery was previously farm land and the land was donated by a long-time James Island native. We opened in 1961, have developed approximately 70% of the property with room to grow over the next 100+ years.

What sets you apart from other cemeteries?
Our cemeteries offer a serene, park-like place for quite contemplation and communion with God. We are priced affordably but include a number of extras at no cost. Examples include a free grave tent for casket burials, a free family tent, chairs, cremation table, cremation vault and lectern for our cremation burials, even a free vase and first set of flowers when a memorial is purchased.
