Q&A

I have many friends and relatives buried at St Lawrence Cemetery. It is truly a disgrace that the main monument (Irish Volunteers ?) at the front gate has been allowed to become such an eyesore. It has now been several years, perhaps 6 - 8, since I last saw workers attempting to repaint it, only to have left with white, streaky paint over faded black paint. This is disgraceful, as the cemetery is supposed to be a "perpetual care" place of interment, and that should not only include the upkeep of individual graves, but the cemetery in general. I shall also be contacting the Hibernian Society regarding this matter and, perhaps with more complaints, Mr. Stuckey, or whoever is in charge, will tend to this matter. I am absolutely positive that this state of disrepair would not have been allowed to happen when Mr. Jimmy Lyles was the superintendent there. – Anthony C.
