How to Make a Celebration of Life Announcement
Announcing a celebration of life is a task made infinitely easier through the existence and use of the internet. Notifying your loved ones can be as simple as creating a memorial website and sharing the information with friends and family. A large part of this type of event may give event organizers pause is the right wording to use.
Starting a memorial website is a great way to get celebration of life announcements out there in a quick and easy manner. You can collect RSVPs, share pertinent information and update the event details as they come in.
When you use your memorial website to send out invites, you can include all of this information on the website itself in the Events & RSVPs section. Set up the event, add in any important or additional information, and easily send emailed celebration of life invitations to those you know. You can also share the page via Facebook or any other social media (or text!) by copying the public share URL in your dashboard.
Here’s the information you should have on hand before getting started with your celebration of life announcement:
- Date and time of the event
- The location of the event
- The time of the event
- Whether or not you’re requesting RSVPs
- Information on attire, if desired
- Any special requests you have of attendees
- A photo of the deceased, if desired
Additionally, it can be helpful to provide information on the type of event you have planned in your description. Is the event taking place near a beach? On a boat? At a restaurant? Will there be refreshments? Weaving these details into the announcement can prepare guests and give them a hint as to the type of event they should expect and what they should wear or bring.
There is a section in the Events & RSVPs tab of your memorial website that allows you to provide important information about COVID-19 restrictions such as face mask requirements, social distancing requirements, and more. You’ll also be able to leave a link to a live stream if you decide to stream the service for those who can’t make it.

We will be holding this celebration at our family home and invite you to show up in the best superhero costume you can find as Mikaela was in love with anything and everything Marvel.
Sending out a celebration of life announcement online lets you skip the frustrating process of creating, uploading, and printing out custom invitations that you then need to mail out to all of those attending. However, if you do prefer to have celebration of life invitations mailed out, having an online memorial website is still a good idea to keep track of RSVPs and to be able to update the attendees with important information as needed. You can set up a memorial website in just a few minutes.
