Hello Ms. Margaret B., Thank you for your interest in the Willed Body Program at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. We will pay for transport of your remains to our medical school, if the location of death is within a 300-mile radius of our school at 6431 Fannin St., Houston, TX 77030. If the place of death is beyond 300 miles, a mileage fee will be charged by the contracted funeral home based on the distance. An embalming fee of $400 may be charged by the contracted funeral home, if your body is further than 100 miles from the McGovern Medical School and circumstances dictate that the body be embalmed before transportation. There is no charge for cremated remains designated for scattering at sea. We do charge a fee of $250.00 for the cremation services to return cremated remains to the next of kin or designee.
