Zufang's obituary
Zufang Wen, born on June 8, 1952, in a rural small town in Sichuan, China, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 73.
Zufang grew up in challenging times, excelling in school for both her academic achievements and warm personality. However, during China’s Cultural Revolution, her family’s educated background led to the loss of educational opportunities and extreme hardships. As the eldest daughter, even as a young child, she shouldered immense responsibility to support her family. She worked long hours—sometimes more than ten a day—standing in cold river waters to sift sand for gold particles. This grueling labor helped sustain her family through difficult years, though the prolonged exposure to water likely contributed to severe health issues that plagued her later in life.
In 1976, Zufang married her loving husband, Qimin Liu, who preceded her in death. Determined to pursue her dreams despite the obstacles, she seized every opportunity to return to education, eventually earning an associate degree and a teaching certificate. She went on to become a dedicated elementary school teacher in public schools in China, where she nurtured and inspired young children with her kindness and passion.
Due to worsening health, Zufang took early retirement in 1997. She devoted the following years to her family, pouring her love into beloved cooking and countless chores around the home, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones. In 2009, she moved to the United States to live with her daughter and granddaughter. There, she cherished every moment spent with family, traveling together to various places across the country and making precious memories filled with joy and togetherness.
Throughout her life, Zufang exhibited unwavering dedication to her family. Even amid severe health challenges and chronic pain, she consistently revealed the beautiful sides of life—her resilience, joy, and boundless love. Her devotion to her loved ones was unmatched and limitless, serving as a shining example of strength and grace.
Zufang is survived by her children and grandchild; her brother; her nephew and nieces; and many other cherished family members and friends.
Her legacy of perseverance, sacrifice, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Zufang’s life reminds us that true strength lies in quiet endurance and the endless capacity to care for others.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Zufang. May you be reunited with your beloved husband.
