Zixuan was a sweet boy and my family and I mourn his passing deeply. Nothing about today makes sense. A life taken too soon by an awful disease that does not discriminate.

ZiXuan was my neighbor. We share many fond memories. I met the Xu family during an evening stroll with my then three year old daughter. Covid was rough especially for families with small children. Therefore, every evening, my daughter played on the roadside with Zixuan, Ziyue(his sister) and other neighborhood children. The children would walk in and out of each other’s homes in search of ‘new’ or ‘cool’ toys to share. Over the years, they happily explored the the hills near our homes, dug holes, gathered leaves flowers, climbed trees, rode bikes and scooters together.

I remember Zixuan as being adventurous and brave. He was eager to play new games fearlessly. Of course that always included his mom’s guidance. He followed Melissa around closely and admired her.

Zixuan’s tragic passing has touched each and every one of us and has left us with memories we will cherish forever. I wish the Xu family peace and consolation during this difficult period.

I was one of Zixuan's nurses in the hospital. I remember from the first time he was admitted, how loving, protective, and involved the family was!

Zixuan had a wonderful ability to play and watch funny videos, so that he would giggle, even if he was not feeling good. He loved Blippy and Curious George videos! I didn't understand what he was saying most of the time, but I knew he thought they were silly or interesting!

Zixuan was very brave! He was so good to stay still for unpleasant procedures. And mom was right there to help him through it!

Mom and dad were always quick to care for his needs. Even when they were obviously stressed, they were polite, and had pleasant attitudes.

It was a blessing to be a part of Xixuan's care in the hospital. I will be praying that the Lord, the God of all comfort, will bring peace to the family in the days to come.

There is nothing we can say to ease the family's sorrow, but the hope and trust in Jesus Christ our Lord alone, and that they will be reunited with Zixuan in a healed and glorified body in heaven! Amen!

Zixuan was such a special boy. His spirit will live on within us always. I am sorry to miss this beautiful memorial for him. I will be traveling.Marc
