Zenwei Chang, a beloved husband, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at the age of 80. Born on February 25, 1944, in Shandong, China, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love.
Zenwei’s life journey was one of resilience and achievement. After earning his Ph.D. and establishing a successful career as an engineer, he met the love of his life, Ms. Hsu, in Taiwan in 1967. They married in 1970 after moving to the United States, where they built a beautiful life together. Zenwei took great pride in their son, who graduated from University of Massachusetts Medical School and serves as an emergency physician today.
In 1977, the family settled in Arlington, Massachusetts. Zenwei was a true craftsman in every sense, pouring his heart into every project, from repairing stairs to painting walls. Yet, his greatest work was the love and care he gave to his family. He adored his wife, cherishing her with acts of kindness and sharing a nightly ritual of prayer that strengthened their bond.
On March 10, 2019, Zenwei embraced the faith and officially joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From that moment, he became a devout member, centering his life on faith and praying nightly with his wife. Music held a special place in Renwei’s heart. He found comfort and joy in the melodies of Zhou Xuan, which transported him back to the memories of his homeland. Known for his humility, humor, and generosity, he touched the lives of everyone around him, leaving a legacy of warmth and compassion.
A celebration of Zenwei’s life will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Belmont Church: 15 Ledgewood Pl, Belmont, MA 02478
We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating the remarkable life he lived. Renwei taught us all the value of love, faith, and perseverance, and he will forever live on in our hearts.
May he rest in eternal peace.
