Yordis's obituary

Celebrating the Life of

Yordis D. Holladay

August 27, 1951 – November 13, 2025

With hearts filled with love and a touch of bittersweet joy, we remember Yordis D. Holladay, who peacefully passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 74. Born and raised in sunny Santa Paula, California, Yordis grew up on Saviers Road alongside her siblings Stan and Rhea, and her youngest sister and lifelong best friend, Rowena, as well as her dear cousin Mimi.

Yordis was not only a pillar of her family but also a cherished daughter, a sister whose laughter could brighten any room, a devoted mother, an aunt who shared boundless love, a grandmother full of stories and wisdom, and a great-grandmother who adored her two precious great-grandbabies.

Though she is reunited in spirit with her beloved parents, Clyde and Faye Holladay; her son, Kyle L. Holladay Sr.; her brother-in-law, Wayne Hale; and nephews Ken Hale and Ben Soans, the legacy she leaves behind—rooted in kindness, strength, humor, and love—will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

She is lovingly survived by:

• Her daughter-in-law, LaKenya D. Smith, and LaKenya’s husband, Kurtus.

• Her pride and joy—grandchildren Kyle L. Holladay II, Jayrod T. Holladay (and wife Alexis), and Kamryn S. Boyer (with husband Kyle)—along with her great-grandchildren Nate and Jenny.

• Her siblings: Stan and Ruth Holladay, Rhea and Joe Aubrey, the ever-devoted Rowena Hale, and cousin Mimi George.

• A loving circle of nieces and nephews including Colleen Soans, Cole and Tara Aubrey, Joey and Missy Aubrey, Levi and Jessica Aubrey, and Shawnece and her husband Bob Renwick (Shawnece previously married to Cole).

• Great-nephews and niece Drue Aubrey, Trent Aubrey, and Teah Aubrey—all of whom affectionately knew her as Grandma Yordis.

• And countless extended family members, friends, neighbors, and community members who were touched by her warm heart and generous spirit.

Yordis was the kind of friend everyone wished they had—always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile, or a moment of comfort. She worked tirelessly throughout her life but discovered true joy in retirement: tending her garden, taking road trips with family, and soaking in the simple, beautiful moments that made life meaningful. One of her final cherished memories was a magical night spent beneath the northern lights with her sister and best friend Rowena—a moment that perfectly captured the wonder and closeness she brought to life.

Her strength, generosity, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew her. Whether as a loving grandmother or a steadfast sister, Yordis left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed—a bright light and loving presence that can never be replaced.

Her family will forever hold her memory close, as will the many friends and community members who were blessed by her kindness and grace.

We find comfort in the words of Psalm 34:18:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Though Yordis has gone home to rest alongside the loved ones who passed before her, her laughter, love, and radiant spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who cherished her.

In accordance with Yordis’ wishes, no formal services will be held. The family deeply appreciates the prayers, calls, and expressions of love shared by all.

Rest peacefully, dear Yordis—your journey continues among the stars.
