Xerxes's obituary
Xerxes Oliver Equila Valencia, 44, a life long resident of the Bay Area, lived in San Leandro and passed away on July 11, 2023.
Xerxes, also known as Ivy was born in Oakland, CA on November 13,1978. He was survived to parents Xavier Valencia, Sr and Myrna Equila, brother Xavier Jr., sister-in-law Ann, niece Xylia, and nephew Xavier, III.
After Xerxes graduated from Hogan High School, he went to study to become a CNA. After completing the CNA program he worked at UCSF for a few years. He then later spent many years at Eden Hospital, where he enjoyed helping his patients, supporting his co-workers and finding the nearest potluck in one of the break rooms.
Xerxes loved his family dearly! He was especially proud when he become an uncle, he adored his niece Xylia and nephew Xavier, III. He was a die hard Raiders, A’s and Warriors fan. If there was a tail gate or opening day you know he was there! If he was not at work or at games, he was watching movies, particularly in rotation was Marvel movies, Top Gun, or Maverick. He was a karaoke superstar! If anyone or anyplace had a karaoke machine, you would for sure find Xerxes looking through the binder to find a song to sing. We all knew once he gets a hold of the microphone though, there was no way anyone would be able to get their chance to sing. Xerxes now has his own personal microphone and can sing to his hearts content. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
