Wayne Phillips
1962, San Francisco, Southern California, Japan
I'm Wini's twin Wayne.  We were born in San Francisco in 1943 and started life on Stanyon Street near Golden Gate Park.  At nine months old we began living with our grandmother Short and a few of our aunts on Melrose Avenue.  Things went well for about nine years until our grandmother received severe burns to her leg from a defective heating pad.  We then moved out to the beach to live with our mother for a few years where we weren't very supervised, and pretty much were on our own.  We then began living with our dad's parents on Fulton Street until 1955 when our grandfather Pugh passed away.  Our father was still in the USAF living in Southern California and then took custody of us.  Being an absent father this was the first time we ever met him.  The next few years living in Southern California with our father were a real challenge.  Our father was transferred to Japan in 1959 where we both finished high school.  I returned to the states in 1962, and Wini returned with our father's new family in 1963.  While in Japan our father married Aki, a wonderful Japanese lady who treated us well, we loved her, and she provided us with two wonderful half-sisters.  At this point Wini and I were separated by distance and just getting on with life, and we gradually moved apart.  I'll let someone else finish this story.
