Winfred's obituary
On November 1, 2022, Winfred Author Shook passed away in Norman, Oklahoma after a brief illness at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his loving family as he went to his final home to be with God.
Winfred was born to the late Johnnie Lee Floyd and Stephen Adouglas Shook, a farmer and housewife, on October 3, 1939, in Madill, Oklahoma. He graduated from Southwestern State University in 1961 with a degree in Business and Accounting. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with Texaco, where he worked diligently for 30 years until retirement.
Winfred married his best friend and fellow classmate, the late Linda Kirby Shook in 1958. After moving to Houston, TX in 1964, they raised two children with patience, discipline, and a love for Christ.
Winfred married Carolyn Post Shook in 2013 and moved back to his beloved Oklahoma. They shared their lives together in Paul’s Valley until his death.
Winfred loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He shared this love with his children, and later his grandchildren, and often took them on long family trips to enjoy the natural beauty of the USA.
Winfred loved the simple things in life and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was kind and softly-spoken. Everyone who knew him will no doubt miss him dearly. We will persevere to carry on his love for God, his sense of humor, and devotion to family for future generations.
Winfred is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Wendy Shook Fagan and Lyndon Shook; his grandchildren; Tiffany Schultz, Brittany Hankins, Brandon Shook, Blake Shook, Cody Beck Shook, Cade Shook, and Colton Shook; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Carl Shook and preceded in death by his brother, Earnest Shook.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship, 2331 Milrany Lane, Melissa, TX 75454. We invite anyone to attend and honor his life.
A small graveside service will be held in Magnolia, TX on a later date.
We love you, Grandad.
