Winfred's obituary
Winfred “Chubby” Allen Hickman, age 68 of Uhrichsville, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday June 28th, 2023, following a brief battle with cancer. Born on January 28th, 1955, in Greenville, Michigan, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Eileen M. (Copeland) Hickman.
At an early age, Winfred chose to enter the workforce where he was employed for many years as an STNA caring for mentally handicapped patients before transitioning his career into the manufacturing industry. After working at several manufacturing plants, he decided to return to healthcare. When a workplace incident left him unable to return to his STNA position, he could be seen delivering the newspaper to local residents. In his later years, he really found his true calling: being an awesome grandpa. As his health began to decline, he enjoyed starting his morning with a cup of coffee, watching FOX news, telling stories of his youth, spending time with his family, and riding around in style on his Jazzy chair with his furry companion, Popeye.
In addition to his parents, Winfred is preceded in death by his brothers, Walter “Buddy” and Jeff, sisters Judith, Linda, Julie, and Roma. Surviving are his daughter, Elsie M. Bihlman and her three children Eileen, Walter, and Alyssa, of Uhrichsville, daughter Pamela E. (Matt) Nowlin and their child, of Mansfield, son Charles “Chuck” A. Bihlman, of Mineral City, son Winfred A. (Monica) Hickman Jr. and their children, of Sylvania, brother Wallace “Wally” (Patty) Hickman, of Michigan, sisters Veretta (Terry) Chubb Hardie, of Washington, and Janet Spragg, of Canton.
In honor of Winfred’s wishes, cremation has taken place through Gordon Funeral Homes of Magnolia. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to donate towards Winfred’s funeral expenses can do so on Winfred’s memorial page on EverLoved.com
