Jimmy's obituary

Wilson Ray "Jimmy" Ballance, Sr.

Our dearest and beloved Dad, a treasured husband, a wonderful and loving brother, best uncle, and a great friend, Jimmy Ballance, Sr., peacefully passed away June 7, 2024, in Puento Gorda, FL, at the age of 88 years young. Jimmy was born April 6, 1936, to the late Charles Tello Ballance and Mary Olethia Nixon Ballance, and was their youngest son of 13 children. He was a native of Norfolk, VA, a city he was born, lived, and served in, until after his Retirement as Captain of the Norfolk City Fire Services. Then it was off to the south to enjoy warmer weather. Jimmy's kindness, to all, knew no bounds. He was an off-duty carpenter, plumber, electrician, builder, roofer, car mechanic, and bandager of skinned knees, an all around nice guy, and truly a capable handy man, who strived to  help anyone who needed it. He truly had an active and full life, with many who loved him, and already miss him deeply. Jimmy is survived by his loving children, grandchildren, one Sister, and a beautiful host of nieces, nephews, and friends.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 6th, at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street in Norfolk, at  11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Virginia Professional Firefighters Charitable Fund at VPFFCF.org - in Jimmy's name.
