December 18th, 1942 – February 17th, 2021
Wilma Whatley, 78, of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on February 17th, 2021.
Adored by her family and friends, Wilma will always be remembered for her caring and compassionate nature. Always available to listen and always able to provide motherly wisdom when needed.
Wilma was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on December 18th, 1942. She moved to the Houston area around 1960.
Wilma was a devoted wife and mother the majority of her life. She took pride in her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Wilma’s faith in and love for God was the driving force in her life and it showed in every relationship that she formed. She wanted everyone to see the love of Jesus through her words and actions and she made it look easy.
She is survived by her two children, James F. Whatley Jr., daughter in law Lyndsey Whatley, James W. Whatley, her mother Francis Winningham, her brothers Earl Thorpe, Jim Fields, and Larry Winningham. Grandchildren Adam Fox, Joseph Whatley, Madison Whatley, Jacob Whatley, Janna Whatley, Maggie Whatley, and Kinsley Whatley.
She is preceded in death by her sister LaVonne Simmons and daughter in law Lori Whatley
She devoted the last 16 years to her life, as activities director for skilled nursing facility SPJST #2 in Needville, TX. She truly enjoyed the friendships she formed with coworkers and residents alike.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday March 4th, 2021 at Garmany Carden 1201 4th Street Rosenberg TX 77471
