Wilma's obituary

Montgomery County,

Mrs. Wilma Galbreath Jones, age 92, died, Friday, November 14, 2014 in the University Hospital in Augusta, after an extended illness. She was born in Montgomery County on May 24, 1922 to the late George W. and Ailey McGill Galbreath. She lived there until 1942, married her husband Paul, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she lived until 1994. She was manager of the Classified Ad and Obituary Department at the Florida Times-Union where she retired in 1977. She was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, a former charter member of the Faith Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia. She and husband moved back to the “home place” in 1994, and lived there until they moved to Summer’s Landing in Vidalia in 2009. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Paul Jones; eight brothers, Robert, Eugene, George Wilson, Emmett, Hiram, John Hilton, Daniel W., and Herbert D. Galbreath; and one sister, Ruth Galbreath Burns.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her beloved husband of seventy-two years, Paul B. Jones; one grandson, Keith Hinson Jones; one brother, William T. Galbreath, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 18th at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Murray Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Galbreath Cemetery near Alston.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 until just prior to the service.
