Willie's obituary

We pause today to pay tribute to the life and celebrate the homegoing, of Mr. Willie Jackson, Jr. He transitioned from this life peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2019.Willie was born October 3, 1936, in Darlington County, South Carolina, to the late Willie Jackson, Sr., and Almeta Revel Jackson. He received his formal education in the Darlington County public schools. He became a member of Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He was married to Eunice Bevel Jackson for fifty-seven years, and this union was blessed with three children. “Bill”, as he was affectionately called, was a hard worker. He was employed with Sonoco Products Company for thirty-seven years before his retirement. He enjoyed his job and was very diligent in his approach to working. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and helping his neighbors in any way he could. He was also a lifetime member of Myrtle Lodge #64 in Hartsville, SC. Willie was an avid golfer, fisherman, and gardener. He was also dedicated to exercising at the YMCA in downtown Hartsville. He was a kind and caring man, always eager to extend a helping hand. His presence from among us will surely be missed and he was loved by all who knew him. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Jackson, Sr., and Almeta Revel Jackson. Surviving to cherish the memory and maintain the legacy of Willie Jackson, Jr., include: his wife, Eunice Jackson of the home; three children, Debbie Jackson of Charlotte, NC, Cindy Jackson and Carla Jackson, both of Matthews, NC; one grandson, Britt (Ashley) Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Liam Barack, Drew Rowan, and Sloan Adrienne Jackson, all of Houston, TX; one sister, Margaret Benjamin of Darlington, SC; and a host of nieces, stepson Michael Yancey and, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.
