When GREAT GRAND PA MET HIS
( GD) Children
He called them GGD and they called him Folks. He had shorten calling them Great Grandchildren, so the acronym came about to be called GGD. He would tell them they 700 & 800 years old, while he was only 8. The age thing was a fun and comical thing with all his grandchildren. So he carried it on with his GGD.
When they came home from school, they yell from entering the house loud ( What’s up Folks!) he holler back what’s up GGD.
We all would laugh.
He slept and watched TV with his door closed, so when ever he would open his door they run like the wind to climb into his recliner or bed… to wait his arrival and take turn operating the recliner or moving the bed by remote.
Not often he would let us lay beside him in the bed and talk. We watch the Tow Truck drivers, 18 Wheelers sliding through the ice storms. And they would give him animated teddy bear for Birthday, it would play a song.
Zaniyah love her Great Grandfather so much that she told me, “He’s going to be the brightest star in the Sky at night.” So she’s taking his death as a renewing of life.
We all will miss his laughter and voice throughout the house, the most. But we all know he’s waiting for us.
