William's obituary

William Thomas Wilroy, 88, passed on July 20, 2025 in the comfort of the home he shared with his beloved wife Bicky Wilroy (his “everything and everything”) in Spring Valley, California. He was surrounded by all his girls: Wife, Bicky; Three daughters (“babies”), Michele Wilroy, Evelyn Wilroy and Natasha Wilroy; and his cherished niece, Angie Wilroy Hall. Evelyn’s husband Ronald Choi and Natasha’s husband Jake Sheppard were also present. He went peacefully with all his favorite people around him, just as he always hoped.

William was the most loving and devoted husband, and absolutely treasured his wife Bicky. He always said, throughout their nearly-40 years married, that he would marry her all over again. They loved one another and spoiled one another so much.

William was born on May 19, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, he loved playing and getting up to all the shenanigans with his two brothers: Robert Wilroy and Richard Wilroy. With their father William Wilroy in the navy, they moved all around southern California. Their mother, Evelyn Wilroy, was absolutely adored by her boys. After first hating the nickname given to him by his father, his mother ended up only referring to him as “Spooky.”

He had the most true and loyal friends, from the time he was a young adult to when he was traveling across Europe in his 40s. He had so many incredible (at times unbelievable) stories from those times. Looking back, some decisions and experiences may have been questionable, but there’s no doubt that William was out to enjoy life to the fullest, and somehow survived those times to tell the tales.

There have been so many versions of William: Son, brother, friend, partner in crime, right hand man, Uncle BT, husband. But for William, being a father was his favorite thing in the world.

His three babies, his girls, his “twerps” were his absolute world. He endearingly named them together: “Chou Chou, Vie Vie, Tasha.” And becoming their dad gave him more versions and chapters he was so proud of: Coach Bill, referee, loudest guy in the stands with the conductor hat, Proudest Dad.

With Bicky by his side, he defied the odds several times: multiple occurrences of colon cancer with corresponding treatment and surgeries, then beginning 2017, a life-threatening aortic aneurysm and several dissections. Even while in hospice care in the last year of his life, he surpassed everyone’s expectations. None of that could have happened without all of the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses, home health aids, his wife Bicky, and his daughters.

As much as his wife and three daughters were his world, he was absolutely theirs. He was so very loved by his girls.

And lastly, his own words penned to his wife and daughters:

“I had a lot of fun when I was single - did a lot of interesting things and traveled over much of the world. But the very special times of my life were after I met your mother and we had babies. Traveling around with my family on holidays and taking you guys to sports tournaments or games when you were little twerps always ranks as the highest of my joys and memories.

Life is hard work to be successful. It is important to enjoy the ride so have a lot of fun along the way, take time to smell the flowers and watch the birds. Remember that Family is one of the most important things. Do what makes you feel good and you will always have fond memories.

(I can hear Mommy saying - ee-ah, Daddy is really getting old!)

Keep up the good work. Love Daddy”
