Growing up I always liked the visits to the Wielands, brief as they were. Mostly this was during the holiday seasons as we Hunters drove over the Cascades from Richland to see relatives on mom's side of the family. We would general drive over to Bill and Carol's home for an evening meal. I remember there was a house in Bill and Carol's neighborhood that looked like it was from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - so many lights. But what I remember most was Bill's giant smile, loud laugh and great personality. I always wished I had known him better. Rest in peace uncle Bill.
My name is Bob Plaisance, Foster grad of '67. Bill was my history teacher and football coach. Growing up without a father my coaches became my substitute dad. Bill was important in shaping my future, I taught history and coached for over thirty years. After we both retired we would connect riding the Husky bus from Federal Way on occasions. He was a great guy and gone too soon. Unable to attend the gathering due to travel plans, my best to the family.
RIP uncle Bill! Your smile, your humming, whistling, and laughter will be forever missed! I’ll miss all of our Seahawks and Huskies texts and more. Miss and Love you❤️
