Dear Shawn and Deedra,

I am so sad to hear about your Dad's passing. My Mom loved your Dad and your Aunt Ethel.  Friends for many years.

I'm sorry I hadn't reached out after Mom's passing last fall. I was I pretty much paralyzed with grief. Kind of odd that my Mom and your Dad passed away at almost the exact age.

I remember when your Grandma passed away and you guys all came out to my parents' place and we played games. Such a fun night.

Your Dad used to come over sometimes and eat with us and play Yahtzee. There was lots of  laughing and stories. He also helped me immensely by setting up my first desktop computer. I was not technologically savvy so I sure appreciated all his help.

He was a good friend to Mom. She always enjoyed his calls and letters. Maybe there's Yahtzee in Heaven? :)

I will be thinking of you both. I know it's a lonely, heartbreaking feeling to lose your last parent. I will pray that you hold the sweet memories close to your hearts in the days ahead.  And the best thing of all...your Dad is free from any suffering.  He will be missed.
