William's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Terrance Tate, affectionately known as “Terry,” and to some, “Short.” Born on December 6, 1964, William’s journey came to a close on February 11, 2026.

A charismatic, funny, and eclectic guy, William had a way of leaving a jovial impression on everyone he met. He adamantly believed that family matters most — a principle he deeply instilled in his children and grandchildren. His legacy, steeped in joy, laughter, and family pride, is something his loved ones will cherish forever. Among his greatest accomplishments, he always cited his children, whom he saw as being filled with the same robust spirit he possessed.

Having grown up in Chicago, Illinois, William attended Stagg Elementary and Calumet High School. He is survived by his loving children: Shana Tate, Casmier Tate, Denesha Tate-Thomas, Angil Tate, Jarissa Tate, and Joseph Tate. His memory will also live on through his grandchildren: Shamyra Watkins, Jada Thomas, Karma Tate, Jayci Thomas, Julian Thomas Jr., Juelz Thomas, Amir Tate, Major Thompson, Casjanae Tate, and King Thompson. He is further survived by his father, Ronald Roberson Sr., his brothers, Roy Roberson and Ronald Roberson Jr., and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Roberson, and his sister, Andromeda Williams. Their memory serves as a guiding light in William’s journey to peace.
