William's obituary

Tom “Tommy” Shoup, 79, left this Earth to hear his mother pray again on Saturday, January 9th, 2021. He was a National Guard Veteran, Retired Owner of T&L Machinery, and a God-fearing man with affectionate nicknames for his family and friends.

Tommy seized every opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. He taught himself to play guitar as a young teenager and also mastered the mandolin while playing many other musical instruments by ear. He spent much of his life performing in a gospel bluegrass band, providing smiles at many churches and nursing homes. He practiced what he sang by using his Bible for a road map and making certain he shared John 3:16 with everyone he could.

He looked forward to going to Heaven to see his firstborn son, William Donald, Jr.; mother, Ada Bell Shoup; father, John William Shoup; sisters, Jonny Belle, Peggy, and Sheila; brothers, Rick and Nick; many friends, and his beloved dog and companion of fifteen years, “Gooby.” He is currently holding place cards in Heaven for his earthly family. Looking forward to seeing him again are Linda Paulette “Schwimpy”; his four children, Felicia ”Salbeenie” Lowe (spouse, Kevin ”Seven come eleven Kevin”), Mandy “Bone” Shoup, Matthew ”Son” Shoup, Amy “Perky/Pole” Shoup; his two very special granddaughters, Lyric “LuLu” Derglin and Olivia “Peanut” Lowe; and many friends and family members.

His life has been celebrated by all who knew him for nearly 80 years. In lieu of flowers, he would want everyone to simply be kind to others, "do the right thing," read their Bible, and see him in Heaven one day so that everyone can rejoice with him in song.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
