William Edward Mercier, known by many as "Big Bill" passed away on the morning of August 29th, 2022 while visiting a family friend in Citrus Springs, Florida. Bill was born on December 17th, 1944 to Louis and Edna Mercier in Everett, MA where he lived and worked as a taxi driver for most of his life. His death was preceded by that of his beloved son, Bryan, as well as several siblings. Bill is survived by many loving individuals, including his devoted wife of several years, Rita, three sons - William II, Michael, and Erik, and one grandson, Alex.Big Bill was an animal lover, and liked to watch old westerns on the couch with his favorite furry friend, Miss Willy the kitty.His favorite hobby was fishing. Traditionally, the Mercier family (and friends) would head up to Maine for a few weeks every summer, and Bill spent majority of that time fishing for large-mouth bass. When it came time to get more bait, he would hop in the truck and be sure to take the long route, keeping his eyes peeled for vintage treasures and antique cars to admire along the way.Big Bill was a larger-than-life personality. He was a dear friend to many, a devoted husband to Rita, and a beloved father to his sons. He will be missed dearly, and his memory will always be with us.At this time, we appreciate your patience as we are waiting for the remains to be released back to us.
