William Mattern ("Uncle Bill") passed away on Monday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 84. Uncle Bill lived his entire life in Baltimore. Bill was the son of Donald and Mary and brother to James ("Jim"). He is survived by his beloved nephews & niece: James, Andrew, and Meredith,  and his sister-in-law Bonnie. A private memorial service will be held on February 24th for family only. A larger remembrance service for Bill's extended family and friends is being planned for next month.

Uncle Bill lived a full and rewarding life. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Bill worked for many years as a marketing executive for McCormick.  When the company moved its headquarters from Baltimore to Atlanta, Bill chose to retire and open his own business. Bill traveled across the U.S. for his job, visiting nearly every major city, but his favorite thing to do was to spend summers on the Jersey shore with his family.
