Bill's humor was superb, After we discovered we both saw the movie The Island of Dr. Moreau and judged it the worst movie ever made: about this doctor who operated animals into humans and taught them: What is the law?Thou shalt not kill! In the end of course nature took over and they killed him. Well for a long time when we met we used the line from the movie: Are we not men?
John Page's thoughts on Bill's anniversary of death inspire me to add a thought: when my doctor lost a colleague recently, he remarked "sic itur ad astra!" meaning "This is how we go to the stars" I too can say we musn'r be sad, Bill made it!
I think of Bill often and yesterday was remembering how much he enjoyed Halloween. I have lots of fun memories of spending Halloween with Bill in NYC. Miss him so much! Cheryl (aka Cat Lady)
Tonight we viewed a concert of Celtic Women in Ireland on TV and it brought back memories of Bill. They sang Danny Boy amongs others. First time he visited us in Budapest we took him to a restaurant with gypsy music. I told the primas that we have a true Irishman as guest and could they play something Irish for him. A little silence ensued but we knew these gypsies have been around and knew music from all over the world. Next something unexpected happened, they started to play Danny Boy and Bill was so touched that tears started flowing confirming what an honest and feeling guy he was. We valued his friendship fully.
