William's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. William Link II. Born on August 19, 1954, he departed from this world on December 30, 2022, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience.
Remembered by many for his witty, warm, inviting, caring, and loving personality, William was also known as a great listener who refrained from passing judgment. He had a compassionate spirit that touched all around him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Darlene Link, his daughters, Delanda Bostic, Katherine Beal, and Tanya Bush. He is also survived by his nephews, Alton, Keith and Brayden Durham, and his niece, Nina Durham.
William faced the loss of his father, William Arvil Link, his mother, Laverne Durham, his ex-wife, Deborah Pickard, and his son, William A Link III, and his nephew, Aron Durham, and sister, Lois F Durham, before his passing. These losses never hardened him, instead, they deepened his understanding of life and love.
In life, he valued independence and encouraged others to do the same, always reminding those around him to "be independent". He was a lifelong learner who believed in the transformative power of education. His decision to return to school was one of his proudest accomplishments, a testament to his inner strength and belief in lifelong learning.
His legacy lies in the lessons of humility, caring, and the belief in the power of self-care. He taught those around him to offer help when possible but to always prioritize one's own wellbeing. This wisdom will be treasured and passed down through generations.
A daughter's heartfelt tribute encapsulates the essence of William best: "I know I had a great dad and he was always there for me whether I was wrong or right, no matter the time or situation. My heart will always ache for him. He was my best friend and I miss him every day. I love you, daddy."
William’s spirit, his teachings, and his love will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on.
