Bill's obituary
Mr. Laur graduated Sheridan High School in Sheridon, CO June, 1960. He then joined the Navy from 1960-1962. He left to become a police officer in Ft Lupton, CO from 1962-1963 then Steamboat Springs, CO police 1963-1964. He joined the Navy again from 1964-1985 serving a total of 23 years. He did two tours in Vietnam, one in Cambodia, and one in Laos. Being stationed at NAS Jax led to meeting his late wife, Rosemary Kirby Laur AKA “the boss”. They were married in 1979.
During their long and happy marriage, Bill and Rosemary shared a beautiful and vibrant life full of grandchildren, travel, and giving to their local community. As a testament to their devotion, on June 8, 2019, they celebrated their 40th anniversary during a vow renewal ceremony attended by family and friends.
Mr. Laur was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Keystone Heights and enjoyed cooking Mexican food Wednesday nights for the congregation. After retiring from the Navy he worked as a Postman in Keystone Heights and was known for his signature cow-spotted Jeep. He loved all of his animals and bragged about spoiling them. He kept in touch with all his Navy brothers and made sure to attend as many reunions as possible.
He was a father and grandfather figure to many and wore his heart on his sleeve. He will be dearly missed.
