William John Maxwell 89, of Malvern PA, passed away Tuesday, July 6 2021 at Bellingham in West Chester, PA
Born Carlos Adrian Bort on November 26, 1931 to Agnes Elizabeth Hunter and Carlos Adrian Bort. After his mother remarried, he was adopted by his Stepfather, Homer C. Maxwell.
He graduated in 1949 from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois.
He was a Photographer’s Mate 2nd Class serving in the United States Navy with Patrol Squadron 16, NAS, Jacksonville, FL from 1951 until 1955 where he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Ribbon
Bill worked as a professional photographer until 1958 when he began his career as an engineer at Burroughs Corporation and Unisys Corporation where he worked until his retirement.
He was a member of the Order of Demolay from 1947 until 1951 and the Al Kaly Shriners of Colorado. He was also a 32° Mason and a life member of both the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Bill enjoyed photography, fishing, dancing, radio controlled planes and watching the Blue Angels
He was pre-deceased by his parents, his 2nd wife and mother of his children, Mary O’Shea Maxwell, his 3rd wife Loretta Short Maxwell, his sister Barbara Maxwell Armstrong, and his nephews Thomas Armstrong and William Armstrong III
He is survived by his children William E Maxwell, Debbie Maxwell (Daniel Stockner), Mary Maxwell (Keith Naylor), his fiancé Patricia Kommer, his grandchildren Josh Maxwell (Blair Thornburgh), Nicole Tyler (Ryan), Monica Maxwell and Jake Maxwell (Claire), 5 great-grandchildren, his sister Cherry Maxwell of Illinois, his nieces and nephews and cats Nema and Katie
Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Ship Inn, 693 E Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA 19341
