William's obituary

William “Randall” Hare, age 64, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2021, under hospice care at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, after suffering a fall while mountain biking at Garner State Park, Texas.

Randall was born in Austin, Texas, on October 22, 1957, to William Richard Hare and Sandra Lorene Roelyn Hare. During Randall’s childhood he lived in Austin, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, and Hondo, Texas, where he graduated from Hondo High School in 1976. He played almost every sport while in high school - football, baseball, basketball, and golf. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Texas in Austin. During his time in Hondo, Randall met his high school sweetheart and wife-to-be, Pamela Gail Rowlett, and they were married in 1978. They shared a beloved marriage for over 43 years. As an auditor, Randall worked for the State of Texas for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Texas Lottery Commission for twenty-five years. He retired in 2011. After discovering he had run out of things to do, Randall’s passion of repairing and fixing things, helped him establish a handyman business. He performed a vast variety of repairs in residential and commercial settings for ten years. With his generous heart and personality, he also loved visiting and helping his neighbors by mowing their lawns and repairing everyday issues that came up. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Randall was actively involved in his church and had recently become the Associate Minister and Youth Director for San Pedro Church of Christ in San Antonio. Randall loved doing anything outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hiking, mountain biking and sightseeing around Texas, but he especially loved his annual trips to Colorado and New Mexico with his wife, Pam, and occasionally a grandson or two. He enjoyed all genres of music, decompressed by playing his guitar, kept every car he ever owned immaculate, and was proud of his pristine yard. His infectious smile, sense of humor and wittiness never failed to disappoint the ones around him.

Randall is survived by his wife, Pamela Gail Rowlett Hare of San Antonio, Texas; his son, Randall Brett Hare, his wife, Rose Hare, and their children, Samuel and Charlie Hare of San Antonio, Texas; his daughter, Kristen Denise Freeman, her husband, Adam Freeman, and their son, Seth Freeman of Boerne, Texas; his father, William Richard Hare of New Braunfels, Texas, as well as his sister, Rhonda Hare of Missouri City, Texas, and brother, John Hare of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Lorene Hare.

Randall’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 2:00 pm at San Pedro Church of Christ located at 311 Jackson Keller Road, San Antonio, TX 78216 followed by a small reception.
In lieu of flowers or plants, a Memorial Fund has been established at the San Pedro church of Christ in Randall’s name for a special project to benefit the youth group who was very close to his heart.
