William Byrne Fitcher, 85, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023. He was born on May 22, 1938, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Hampden & Gladys Fitcher, the 3rd of 8 children. He is preceded in death by his son William Byrne Fitcher Jr. and his siblings, Lois (Roy) Uppwall, Hampton (Susie) Fitcher Jr., James (Garnettia) Fitcher, and Robert (Deborah) Fitcher.

William, also known as Bill and Billy to close family and friends, was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his siblings Thomas (Betty) Fitcher, Betty (James) Raby, and Kay (Robert) Lozier; the mother of his children, Jacqueline Ellenburg; his children Greg (Mossy) Fitcher, Michael (Roberto) Fitcher, and Michele Lizon; his grandchildren Harrison (Haylee) Fitcher, Nick Fitcher, Victor Fitcher, Donavon Fitcher, Wesley Lizon, and Elijah Lizon; and his great granddaughter Cali Fitcher.

William served in the Navy and afterwards had a long and successful career as an electrician. He began his career managing movie theaters. He was passionate about his work and always strived for excellence. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories and telling jokes, and building community centers & churches around the world.

A memorial service will be held on August 5, 2023:

Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m., at the Haven of Rest Cemetery and Funeral Home, Green Cove Springs, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brain Trauma Foundation or Brain Injury Association of America in William’s memory.

William (Bill, Billy) will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a kind, generous, and intelligent man who touched many lives with his wisdom and humor. He will always be remembered in our hearts.
