William's obituary

William “Billy” E. Faherty, age 64, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023, in Red Bank, NJ with the support of everyone that loved him.

Billy was born to the late Eileen and Jack Faherty on May 17, 1959. One of 7 children, and the mischievous, fun-loving cousin of many Irish Catholics, Billy grew up in River Plaza and was a 1978 graduate of Red Bank Catholic. He was a long-time resident of Little Silver where he and his former wife - Karen Faherty - raised their family, before moving to Red Bank and sharing life experiences with his partner - Tara Sutphin.

Professionally, Billy taught himself the science of environmental remediation and crafted a successful 30+ year career in sales at Clean Earth Inc. In 2019, he and his partner Tara purchased Evolve Hair and Beauty Bar in Colts Neck NJ. Together, they took tremendous pride being successful local business owners.

Beyond his work, Billy was the proud father of his two children – Christopher and Lauren. He found solace on the golf course with his friends and brothers, on the ski slopes with his kids, on the beach in Naples, and ‘in the yard’ on Lippincott. He never missed a chance to see the Giants, help anyone he considered a friend, or bring life to a party. His passion for life was evident in the joy “Uncle Billy” had whenever he saw one of his many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, and most recently the time “Buoy” spent with his beloved grandkids.

Known for his larger-than-life personality, Billy had an innate ability to light up a room. He was a man who celebrated life and embraced its every moment with family and friends. In the wake of his passing, Billy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy is survived by his two children, Christopher and wife Katie Davis (daughters Mia and Maddie), Lauren and husband Ryan Soltes; his siblings Kathy and Alan Vail, Pam and John Faherty, Liz and Tim Orie, Andy Faherty, and Paul Faherty; his former wife Karen; his partner Tara; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, God-children, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Eileen and Jack, and his cherished sister, Mary.

In lieu of traditional services, a party will be held in memory of Billy on September 16th 2023 at Proving Ground in Highlands, NJ – a celebration Billy will certainly be at in spirit. All family and friends are invited to attend and share the best stories of a man who brought smiles to countless faces. Please kindly RSVP by September 1st at https://everloved.com/life-of… where important event details can be found.
